Bring on the Pink

Finding out the sex of our baby is obviously one of the most exciting parts of pregnancy. The baby was moving for most of the scan, but managed to slow down briefly enough to pose for a few pictures and most importantly to settle the debate - boy or girl. And just like that - we knew. We both thought it was a boy and to hear the doctor tell us it's a girl was a huge, exciting shock! We can't wait to welcome our daughter in February and we know Griffin will make a great big brother.

17 months

Griffin is 17 months old today ... we can't believe it. That just sounds so old! Our sweet boy is very talkative these days, energetic and full of life.

Griffin is saying so many new words like mama, dada, truck (duck), NO (which I hear a little too often), up, down, bye and hi. He also started telling Scott "bye dada" when he leaves the room. It's amazing how many phrases he understands and how much he is learning everyday.

We've been working on learning our body parts. He's learned nose, ears, teeth, toes, belly button and eyes. Griffin likes to point them out and then find them on mama and dada too. He also likes to find the body parts on his stuffed animals.

Griffin really started becoming interested in his stuffed animals. He takes them with him everywhere he goes, even just walking through the house. He loves sleeping with them at night and if he spots one in the store - watch out - we will be going home with it.

He claps when he does something he likes and on the other hand will have a tantrum if he doesn't get his way. This is an interesting stage as we try to help him work through his frustration.

Griffin still loves being outside and he prefers to run instead of walk. He takes lots of mini steps at record speed.

So busy he rarely has time to look at the camera

Ignoring the camera on purpose :)

13 weeks

The first trimester is coming to an end and the baby is growing as expected. I had an ultrasound today and it was wonderful to see the baby moving around. Here are a few pictures of our sweet baby.

Sprayground

It's summer which means it's Sprayground time around here. This was our first trip and Griffin was a little hesitant at first, but he quickly warmed up and then didn't want to leave.

12 weeks

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and the weeks seem to be moving so much quicker with this pregnancy. Morning sickness has started to ease up, which is a huge change from the first pregnancy. I feel like I eat ALL OF THE TIME. It's just like I can't get full. I craved peanut butter while I was pregnant with Griffin and ate it almost everyday. Now the smell of it makes me nauseous. I'm still in love with milk and drink at least two glasses a day.

Being pregnant in the hot summer makes it challenging keeping up with Griffin. We are always on the move, which doesn't leave much time to rest. I think that is the hardest thing so far about being pregnant this time!

The baby was doing well at our last check up. The heartbeat was 160 and I just loved hearing it. I can't wait to find out if we are going to welcome a little boy or girl to our growing family ... but, I have to wait until Sep.1 to know for sure.

No No

Griffin has learned a new word "No No". It's interesting to watch him learn new words and understand what they mean. He definitely uses it the most when we ask him if he's ready to come inside. He always responds, no no. He's even started saying it when we ask him if he's ready to go night night. He shakes his head from side to side and says no no. I love hearing him talk and I can't wait for him to learn many more words!

16 Months Old

Griffin is 16 months old. The best way to describe him is curious and happy. He is into everything these days and is really into cause & effect. For instance hearing Mommy scream when she turns around to see her shoes floating in the toilet. He laughs and loves a reaction. It's hard to get mad when you see his cute smile. He is so quick that you can't even blink before he is into the next thing.

He is suddenly picking up lots of new words. He loves pointing at something and saying the word. Griffin's favorites are duck (quack quack), truck (he points and says this every time he see one when we're driving), cow (mmmm) and bye (he says it loudly in a high-pitched voice and waves). One of his favorite activities is pointing to body parts and saying their names. He's learned nose, toes and belly button.

Griffin also loves his new kitchen. He loves playing with pots and pans and cooking Mom and Dad lots of food to eat. Besides cooking, Griffin loves being outside. He could stay outside for hours and he loves to play in puddles after it rains. He runs and splashes through the puddles. He is definitely all boy!

Dinnertime is becoming more challenging because Griffin's definitely developing an opinion about what he wants to eat. He's becoming more picky, which is keeping Mom on her toes. We are constantly switching the food to have a good variety and coming up with new ideas. We've also started playing games to make eating more fun.

Griffin is such a sweet boy. He loves giving hugs and kisses and I can't get enough of them. He understands "give Mommy & Daddy a kiss" and when he hears it he leans over and kisses our cheeks.
