The Jungle

Griffin loves playing in the Exersaucer (aka The Jungle). He loves bouncing up and down and playing with all of the wild animals. Here is a video of him in the Jungle today.

Busy boy

Griffin is a busy little boy, like All. The. Time. He never stops. He is curious to no end. He will NEVER sit on my lap, only for a bottle, and then, when he's done he arches his back and bucks himself off until he's landed on the floor. Everything is speedy and hectic and jerky and energized and exhausting. From the moment he wakes up he is on the go. Up, down, around, under, over, loud, go, go, go. If he's this busy now, what am I going to do once he starts crawling and walking?

Here is a video of Griffin "talking"

New this week - Separation Anxiety

Griffin is becoming much more aware of his surroundings. In fact, so aware that he realizes when mom and dad leave the room. That's right - separation anxiety has started to occur. Griffin wants us to be in sight at all times - although, if he could have it his way, I think he would prefer to be super glued to my hip. Now, don't get me wrong - I love snuggling with my little bug. But please, can I just put you down for 10 seconds? Whew, I certainly hope this phase doesn't last long.

6 months old

Griffin is growing just like a University of South Carolina lineman should. He tipped the scales today at 17 lbs 15 ozs and was 27 inches long. He is in the 75% for height and weight. I can't believe my baby is already 6 months old! Where does the time go ... from swaddle blankets and bouncing to smiles, giggles and sitting up. You are only 6 months old yet I can't imagine how I ever lived one day without you.

You are growing up so fast but I'm so proud of your newfound talents. You are rolling over, splashing like crazy in the bathtub, sitting up on your own, eating baby food and cereal three times a day, babbling, smiling and squeeling all of the time. You don't have any teeth yet but you are drooling like Niagara Falls. You grab anything in site and when I mean anything it's hair, earrings, phones, noses, water bottles, spoons, anything!

I have a feeling you are going to be a "dive right in" little boy. I can't wait for the next 6 months.

Pop Pop's Birthday

We celebrated Pop Pop's 62nd birthday this weekend. Griffin loves any reason for a party because he always becomes the center of attention. We enjoyed dinner at Outback and everyone had a blast, especially Griffin. Luckily, we were able to make it through dinner without any broken dishes (yes, that is what happened last time we took him out to eat). He is at a stage where he is so busy, and with an attention span of about .5 seconds, going anywhere requires lots of planning. Our table had so many toys you would have thought it was an advertisement for Toys R' Us.

We're glad we got to visit with the family and celebrate Pop Pop's first birthday as a grandfather.

Moving on up ... to the high chair

We put Griffin in an official high chair this week. No more sitting in his bumbo chair on the table - knocking dishes on the floor, pulling the flowers over and touching everything in site. Now he's strapped in like he's getting ready for take off. Whew, dinner time just got a lot easier!

New this week - Sitting up

Griffin accomplished a new milestone this week. He is able to sit up by himself. He has been trying for a couple of weeks, but each time he would topple over after a few seconds. After a few short falls, Griffin finally got the hang of it. Now he loves sitting up and playing with his toys. You can tell he's so proud of himself.
